This week we will be at Charleston again. Some friends are coming down. So if you are thinking about it too, please let me know so I can save you some space by us.
After last week’s disappointment with the drive shaft, we ‘re looking forward to some good racing and hopefully a good finish.
Sounds like the weather is going to be ideal. So come join me in the stands!
Adults are $12 for the holiday weekend with higher purse money for the racers. Racing is at 7 with qualifying after 6.

Hillbilly, dirt-racers posting on the Internet.
What’s sad is that the person getting pwnd is a friend of ours. But it’s still funny!

The short version? It was a two day race – the first night got rained out except for qualifying (which was rainy anyway). So they only had one night to run the heats, consi’s, main feature and the loser’s feature (B main). All by curfew time of 11pm in Lincoln.
John qualified 10th fast with nearly 60 cars. He unfortunately didn’t make the show though and they ran out of time before the B main could be run. They split the purse money among all drivers who would have been in the race. So, soggy and cold, they came home.
We’re at Charleston tonight. It might storm but so far just sprinkles. A wet track can be good. Heavy and tires grip well. I’ll be updating FB/twitter. Or, if so inclined – come join us. Hayden and I are sitting in Turn One.
The track was black before the late models were even done qualifying. By feature time, it was a freight train. Still, it was fun to watch. John won his heat race and started on the pole of the feature. But, he let the guy on the outside front row get the jump on him and never was able to pass him. Every once in a while, it looked like he was going to pull down on him – I kept waiting for the leaders tires to give out, but the didn’t. John got second.
In other news, we have a signed contract on our house. We don’t feel as excited this time – kind of waiting for it to fall through. Plus, we don’t have an awesome country house rental lined up like last time either.
We’ll be racing tonight at Charleston Speedway – Late Models are here!
